If you haven’t guessed it yet, my name is Thomas Verrette. I do a lot of things. They are all film-related. Or music-related. But really the music I do is for film, so I guess it’s all film-related really!
That’s me. I’m in black and white because it makes me look cooler and more director-like. And writer-like. And producer-like. Hell, composer-like too. Because those are things I do. But I’ll be honest, I don’t really like doing them all at the same time. It’s a little too stressful. Then again, I say that everytime I make a movie, and then I end up doing them all again anyway. Am I crazy?
Wait, did you come to this page looking for a normal bio?
Fine! First, here’s my IMDB page. It’s linked because I like it, though not everything I’ve done is on there because production people are slow (I don’t think anyone who worked on I Am The Bluebird will argue with me on that!) I not a big fan of writing about myself, but here it is in case you really want to know:
Thomas Verrette is an writer, producer, and director specializing in commercial, music video, and feature film production. Verrette’s exceptional visual style and utilization of the mirage of music, sound, and picture have propelled him to many successful endeavors in the film, music, and trans-media industries.
In 2003, he founded the independent production company, Skylight Cinema, Inc., to develop low-budget indie-film projects from financing to completion. Most recently, Verrette wrote, produced, directed, edited, and scored the indie-feature film, I Am The Bluebird, which premiered at the Atlanta Film Festival in 2009 to sold out audiences and has since been screened at a number of film festivals across the nation. Most notably, it received the “Audience Award” from the Sunscreen Film Festival and “Excellence In Feature Film Award” from the Accolade Competition.
Verrette is also an accomplished film composer, having scored five features and over twenty short films. At an early age, he wrote, produced, directed, shot, and edited his first feature film, Distant Walls, at the age of 18, with the specific intention to write an original score for a full-length feature film. Distant Walls was screened at a number of film festivals in the southeast, and was self-distributed profitably over the internet and on DVD. His film also earned him a $35,000 scholarship to the prestigious Savannah College of Art and Design, and won awards for Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Original Score.
While there, Verrette met Nabil Abou-Harb and Colin Ferri, who are now working on developing Arab In America! into a feature film. Verrette is attached to direct.
Hi Thomas,
Now I can see why your Dad is so proud of you! Amazing what you have done since listening to some of your music long ago when you lived in Alpharetta. Keep it up! I have lost touch with your Dad and want to touch base with him. Would you mind passing my email address on it him – he will recognize my name. Tks and sorry I invaded your very interesting blog. Best of luck in LA.
